Summer Meditation
By · CommentsGreat meeting last night, including Gale’s story of being healed! We also had other wonderful sharings.
Tom introduced the 3rd and final meditation that we are doing for the summer: The Wedding Feast at Cana (click here to view/print the meditation sheet). You only have this week to do the one hour meditation as we will do our small group discussion at next Monday’s branch meeting.
Game On!
By · CommentsWe encouraged people to come to last Monday’s branch meeting ready to have fun. And did we have fun!
Gale and Zig turned their house into a 5 ring game night. We had two poker tables, Wii, pool, and Boggle (a word game). Adults and young people were divided up into 4 groups, with half of each group competing against half of another group. Every 15 minutes groups had to rotate to another game. At the end we tallie up the scores, and Team 4 was declared the winner!
We also had a chance for Molly to share about her recent trip to Allendale as part of the summer Action project that we raise money for through our auction. All in all, a fun night for everyone!
Summer Meditations
By · CommentsDuring the summer, we will be taking time to do hour long meditations, one per month, and then coming together to discuss these in small groups at one of our Monday night brnach meetings. In June, we focused on the scripture passage, “Jesus Calls Matthew“. For July we will study and meditate on the passage from Acts, ”Peter & John Heals the Lame Man“.
As we have said in the past, these meditations are not a time to do bible study, nor are we simply trying to extract a moral lesson from the scripture passage. We want to put on “the mind of Christ” (1 Cor 2L16) and try to capture our Father’s intent in these scenes, so we can grow in grace and knowledge (2 Peter 3:18).
Summer Updates
By · CommentsWe kicked off the summer with our first Monday branch meeting on June 7 with a homework assignment: set aside an hour and do the meditation on “Jesus Calls Matthew”. Then at our branch meeting on June 13 we showed three videos of our work in Indy, Allendale and Dinkytown with open discussion between videos.
The videos we showed are available for viewing at http://peopleofpraise.org/our-videos/
Our next meeting is on Monday June 21st. Please note that this meeting is being moved to Zig & Gale’s home. Starting time is still 7:30pm. Please bring your notes from your meditation, as we will be discussing the meditation in small groups.
Women’s 2010 Retreat
By · CommentsIt’s not too soon to circle the last weekend in October (Oct 29-31, 2010) as that is the date for this year’s women’s retreat. The retreat will be led by Beth Bulger (South Bend).
